This suite is organized into four movements:
- Prelude,
- Fugue,
- Sarabande,
- Gigue with Double
The writing, especially in the Prelude and in the Gigue, suggest an instrument different from the harpsichord. Yet, in the three recordings I highlight in this episode, it’s the keyboard (as an instrument, as the player’s tool) that wins out for me as the most affective performance.
