I love music.

I write about the music I like and have purchased for the benefit of better understanding it and sharing my preferences with others.

Zefiro

Screen Shot 2012 07 01 at 10 59 58 PM I first encountered Zefiro Torna by Claudio Monteverdi for two tenors and continuo in music history class; it must have been the spring of 1993. The recording our professor used was by William Christie and Les Arts Florissants.

But I had to share this rendition by L'Arpeggiata which I simply love. They take the dancy bass line and add the instrumental lines that would later be picked up by other composers (using the same bass, no less), The result here is fun for us, but the performers look like they're having a ball, too.
